Zipper Flower Card - MojoMonday 1799

This card was made fFollowing the design presented this week by MojoMonday. An old zipper was twisted and turned to make the flower.   Colorful paper (unknown) was backed by gold.  Three dewdrops were also used.  Rubber stamp (unknown)  was inked with Memento Rose Bud.  The zipper flower makes and interesting interpretation of the MojoMonday design does it not.  Normally these flowers are used to adorn clothing or hats, but why not a card? 



****************Sweet Baby card

I have a gazillion rubber stamps - lol, many of which are baby related and look, not a rubber stamp  on this card front!  Oh my!  I started  with a tag from K&Company,  some paper from Nana's Nurseries, May Arts pink silk ribbon, a gingham brad and a bit of lace, narrow ribbon, and itty bitty paper flowers.  Combine them with a bit of stickles, glue, and tape  and this is the resulting card.  Sweet is it not?

Recently  I saw a gatefold card that caught my eye (http://www.notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoastampers.com/ )and wanted to make one.   I thought it would work well for this weeks JustRite 049  Direct to Rubber technique challenge.  And then I "discovered" http://www.cuttlebugspot.blogspot.com/  had  a  gatefold card challenge this week too.

Other: Swarovski Crystals, Brads, and Luna Lights Paint and shiny red paper from Rubber Necker, Decorative Scissors, Memento Ink, Tombow Markers, and paper (unknown) from my stash, and of course tape and glue.

    The direct to rubber technique was fun to try.  Each stamp was hand colored using markers, memento dew drops, or in the case of the silver butterflies (on the bookmark/tag) my little finger!  A bookmark/tag seemed to be an appropriate "gift" to tuck in the pocket and I added a blank Spellbinder tag so the giver could easily sign the card.  I admit, this card too awhile to make, but the day was kind of gloomy; damp and cool so what could be more fun that creating a card?

Inspiration Photo Shabby Tea Room #49



Unfortunately I can't tell you who makes the paper, it is just some I had in my paper stash.  But the colors reminded me of the Shabby Tea Room inspiration colors for their #49 challenge.  I'd made ribbon roses using MayArts plaid ribbon and placed them on a piece of May Arts Silk ribbon.  The stamped image is from Hero Arts. Inspiration for this design came from a card made by Windy Robinson.   Keeping Warm with flowers and friendship!

****************JustRite048 Lighthouse Sketch

Using the lighthouse image from Just Rite's By The Sea collection, coupled with the sentiment from their Wedding Nested Sentiments and Verse  I set about to create the Just Rite 048 Sketch Challenge.  Looking through m cardstock stash, I found paper that reminded me of  blue-green ocean water and I decided to do a tone on tone card.  The focal background paper is actually a photograph of water I happened to have.The lighthouse and rope border was stamped  using StazOn Teal Blue and hand cut out of the lighter blue cardstock.  I then covered it thickly with Crystal Effects. ( A magnet on the back and I  have a  a refrigerator magnet...but that is another crafting session!)

To continue with cardmaking... I used a cuttlebug folder to create the "waves" on the light blue cardstock behind the lighthouse,  MayArts ribbon was gathered and adhered to the back of the lighthouse oval.  The sentiment was trimmed by hand cuts and mounted on a stitched Spellbinders oval cut.  The rope border from the By the Sea set was stamped, coated with Crystal Effects and placed around the sentiment.
Sheer light blue and ocean blue ribbon from May Arts was twisted and affixed to the card.  Tiny seashells were then used to further enhance the feel off the sea.   A little bit of Stickles was used to enhance the beacon of light.  Now the card is ready to be given to the "Light of my Life".

A couple of crocheted dischoths packaged up with a newly learned ribbon rose technique.  Ready to provide someone a smile before they have to do the dishes!

******Love is in the Air JustRite 047







 

Would you care for a slice of cake that was made to celebrate Love is in the Air (JustRite's 047challenge)?   Oh! wait a minute....the cake is a paper creation.  Starting with Just Rite's Wedding Stamp Ensemble, the sentiment was stamped on pearlized pink cardstock then surrounded by seed pearls.  It became the focal point of the topper which I created out of several silk flowers.  Before the topper could be afixed to the cake....the cake had to be made!  I first found a template on the internet for a cake slice, then "got smart" when my daughter reminded me there was one in Cricut's Tags and Bags cartridges.  So firing up the cricut I proceded to cut 18 slices of cake: 9 large, 9 small.  Each piece was then embossed (frosting swirls) and enhanced with Stickles Stardust (can you see the glitter on the swirls?) .  Lots of glue (and patience) was then used to form each paper piece into a 3 dimensional cake slice.  Next the pieces were shaped to form the cake and each slice was defined by running a strip of seed pearls down the "cut" lines.  The cake was "baked" and the fun of decorating it began.  I selected white, pink, and pale lavender as my colors in keeping with an "airy" feel.  I admit it....I had many moments of frustration and almost "ditched" the whole project....Love is in the Air?  more like Bah Blech (the blizzard we are having now  outside); but I crafted on and here it is!  Ready to be a centerpiece for a special table/event.
