Giraffe

 

 

Several years ago a card using this stamp was posted on Splitcoast...Loving the stamp I searched and searched for it.  Initially, I was unable to get the stamp, but the lady who had originally used it was kind enough to send a stamped image and a piece of the ribbon she had used.  I do recall she lived near Sioux City, Iowa; but can't locate her name.   I was fortunate to make contact with another lady (see zebra card below) who had the stamp and sent it to me.... Forever in debt to both these special stamping gals.  Finally, I got around to making the card...and here it is.  Unfortunately, I do not know who made the stamp. (if I ever find out..I'll edit this post)  What does this giraffe seem to be saying?

Zebra - Seeing Stripes

 

Such a fabulous stamp!  I wish I knew the manufacturer...I wish I could remember the name of the lady who as a favor and an act of kindness sent me her rubber stamp a couple of years ago.  With "life impacts" I'd not found the time to make a card with it until now.  .  And, of course her envelope/return address is either long gone or lost in the house...somewhere.  What I remember is that she is from Nova Scotia and her website featured cards and recipes.  I wish she knew how much I honor her for her kindness to a total stranger.  That being said....here is the card.  The image makes the card which is enhanced a bit with Crystal Effects, a bit of Bakers Twine, a pearl dot and odds and ends of paper/cardstock.  The zebra print is from Hobby Lobby.

Update: I was "driven" to find out the who and what after my initial post...  Success!! The stamp is from Natures Image (a small family business that sadly is no more) 



Little Owls Obsession - Crocheted Afghan

Once upon a time, my daughter found an afghan she just "fell in love with" on Pinterest.  Whimsical Owls.  So, I explored Pinterest, found the website that had the link to the pattern and the rest is history!
(http://www.pinterest.com/pin/559501953677824589/) The pattern called for Chroma Yarn which was lovely to work with!  Not a difficult pattern, just lots and lots of steps and pieces.  When I crochet, the part I like least is weaving in all the tail ends.  This one must have had a thousand!!  Call this a work of love for a beloved daughter.  

Climbing the Stairs

I really enjoy using Graphic 45 Paper...such cute cards can be created and no stamping is required.  So, when there are "leftovers" from a card made; I find a way to use the rest of the pieces.  This card makes use of the leftovers from a card previously made.  Only the ribbon is not a remnant!

Little Boy Blue

One of my all time favorite baby cards is one that was originally created by Connie MacFarlane.  When I need a special card for a baby boy, I usually round up my Graphic 45 paper and begin the   cutting and layering needed to create this card.  Put together with a spellbinder die, distress ink pad (vintage photo), May Arts velvet ribbon , a bit of Bakers Twine,  a button from my stash, a Martha Stewart punch, and a Cuttlebug embossing folder and the card is completed. 

Wedding Invitation Card

The invitations were sent, and now it was time to make a card of well wishes for the bride and groom.  I always like to incorporate (if I can) parts and pieces of the invitations, announcements, etc.  The only part of this card that wasn't part of the original invitation is the patterned paper and the Mr and Mrs tag.  I simply turned the invitation over  and adhered it to a base card.  I slid the patterned paper under the invitation slit and moved the ribbon.  Swarovski crystals were used to highlight areas of the patterned paper.
                                                                        

For His 93rd Birthday

Oh my goodness...can it really have been over a year since my last post?  Well, yes...but I have been so involved in the activities of this thing called "life".  From the depths of sadness and sorrow to the joy found in the warmth of love from family and friends I've been "busy".  Longing for the return to paper crafts and finally finally.....taking the time to make and post this "simple" card to honor my fathers 93rd Birthday.  He has a great love of anything Eagles, so this Northwoods stamp was a 'must have' when I bought it several years ago (first time to use lol!) He also received degrees from the University of Kansas and so the JayHawker may seem an odd embellishment for the ribbon bow....but for my dad...perfect!  I colored and added dimension just to the Eagle portion of the stamped image.  The frame I created with the Spellbinders label and oval was embossed before being mounted over the eagle image.  Candis were colored with copics and placed in each corner.
